Halifax Healthcare Cash Plan

If everyday medical costs are lightening your wallet, you should consider purchasing Halifax’s Healthcare Cash Plan; this policy covers your routine healthcare costs. To help you save even more money, Halifax grants all customers - both new and existing - a 5 percent discount for policies purchased online. When you apply, you will not have to fill out any health forms, and you will not have to complete any medical exams; if you are between the ages of 18 and 59, you are guaranteed acceptance.

Halifax offers its customers two levels of cover - standard and premier. A standard policy offers a basic level of cover, and it is the more affordable of the two. A standard policy costs as little as £10.50 a month, while a premier policy can cost £18.50 a month. Rates vary depending on your age and the number of people listed on your policy.

Under this plan, you can claim up to 50 percent of your optical care fees, including the cost of your eye tests and prescribed glasses or contact lenses. Under a standard policy, the maximum limit for claims is £100, while the limit under premier policies is £200; a six-month deferral period applies.

You can also claim up to 50 percent of the cost of your dental checkups and dental treatment, to a maximum of £100 for a standard policy or £200 for a premier policy. Again, a six-month deferral period applies. You may also qualify for an Inpatient Benefit; for every 24-hour period of your hospitalization, Halifax will pay you £30 under a standard policy and £60 under a premier policy. You can claim this benefit for up to 365 days. Halifax will also pay out £30 and £60 per day under the standard policy and the premier policy respectively if you are an inpatient in the Intensive Care Unit. Additionally, for each day you visit a hospital as a day-patient on the recommendation of your GP, you can claim £30 under a standard policy and £60 under a premier policy, for a maximum of six visits a year.

Halifax Essential Health Cover

Halifax offers its customers Essential Health Cover in conjunction with AXA PPP healthcare Limited. This valuable cover protects you if you are ever diagnosed with cancer, heart disease or stroke. Your maximum claim limit of £250,000 covers a wide variety of medical expenses, including private hospital and day-patient unit charges. If you use a hospital not listed in the Directory of Hospitals, you can claim an out-of-directory cash benefit. You can also claim your specialists’ fees; Halifax imposes no maximum limit within your policy limit for this type of cover. Halifax will pay for your inpatient consultations, which covers any of your consultations with a second specialist on the recommendation of your treating specialist. And if a child listed on your policy is admitted into hospital, you can claim the cost of one parent’s stay in hospital with the child.

You can also enjoy extensive coverage as an outpatient, as well. Halifax covers your surgical procedures, specialists’ consultations, diagnostic tests and clinical practitioner charges. This policy also pays for your hospital-at-home; this covers the cost of your intravenous chemotherapy or intravenous antibiotics when administered by a qualified nurse in your home. You’ll also receive an NHS cash benefit if you receive free treatment under the NHS when you are admitted as an inpatient. A limit of £100 a night applies, to a maximum claim limit of £2,000 a year.

Halifax Private Medical Insurance

In conjunction with AXA PPP healthcare Limited, Halifax offers all of its customers Private Medical Insurance. With this policy, you have access to over 250 hospitals in the network, and you will receive prompt care and treatment as both an inpatient and a day-patient. If you have a medical problem or concern that does not need immediate attention, you can call Halifax’s Health at Hand 24-hour helpline, which gives you access to important health information over the phone. And you can start your policy with a 40 percent no claims discount.

Instead, Halifax will not cover you for any medical conditions you were diagnosed with prior to purchasing your policy.
